Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Newcastle that will see Jack Colback join the East Midlands side on a season-long loan.

The Reds have been chasing the former Sunderland man all summer, after he enjoyed a fairly successful loan at the City Ground for the latter part of the previous season.

And, according to the Daily Mail (16:09), he is set to return to Forest after they agreed a deal with the Premier League side for the 28-year old who is not needed under Rafa Benitez in the north east.

This will be a big boost for Aitor Karanka, with the Forest boss revealing earlier in the window that Colback was the main target this summer.

However, wages had been an issue but the latest report suggests a compromise has been reached and he will be the latest addition for Forest after a very productive window.

Karanka has set about transforming his side this summer, bringing in virtually an entire new team as he looks to push for promotion in the upcoming campaign.

The Verdict

This will be a big signing for Forest as he's someone that Karanka was desperate to bring back to the club.

Colback is a good player at this level and will bring a real balance to the team, as well as experience of winning promotion from the second tier which is vital.

The board also deserve huge credit as once again they are about to deliver a key target for the manager in what has been a superb summer for Forest.
