Nottingham Forest dealt frustrating player news

Published

on

Nottingham Forest’s January arrival Nuno Da Costa suffered an injury during the club’s U23 game with Crewe on Friday.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side have been in good form this season, and the prospect of a promotion to the Premier League is fully in their sights.

The January transfer window saw Lamouchi opt to bring in backup for leading scorer Lewis Grabban – having seen former loanee Rafa Mir fail to establish himself at the club.

Bringing in Da Costa from French side RC Strasbourg, Lamouchi would have hoped to have the 28-year-old available for this weekend’s upcoming game with league leaders West Bromwich Albion.

The Cape Verde born frontman arrived from some valuable experience, having featured heavily for his country in their African Cup of Nations qualification.

But that experience will now have to wait on being added to Forest’s first team after the striker was forced off playing for the U23 side against Crewe.

Starting the game, Da Costa had two chances to get himself on the scoresheet before being forced off on the half-hour mark.

Further details are yet to emerge on the full extent of the striker’s injury.

The Verdict

Da Costa’s injury is not good news for Forest, having seen Grabban struggle with an injury in midweek which saw him miss the defeat to Charlton.

Lamouchi needs all of his players available for the season run in and Da Costa was expected to come in and play an important part.

A defeat to West Brom at the weekend will only end what has already been a poor week for Forest.
