Sky Bet Championship outfit Nottingham Forest are on the lookout for a striker or two this summer and after being linked with several high-profile names it will be interesting to see who the Reds end up signing.

Aitor Karanka’s men weren’t the most prolific side in front of goal last season and the Spaniard will be keen to stock up in attack to avoid encountering similar problems during the 2018/19 campaign.

Forest are seemingly willing to spend a bit of money this summer and a large chunk of their expenditure looks set to be plunged in the striking department before the August kick-off.

News emerged this week that Watford striker Troy Deeney could be available for transfer and that could alert a couple of the higher spending clubs in the Championship towards his availability.

Forest should be placed on red alert at this news and the reported £10 million fee that the Hornets are looking to recoup for Deeney would be a snip given his Championship goalscoring credentials.

It seems likely that some Premier League interest might arise in the 29-year-old but Forest’s ambition and the project that is in place at the City Ground might just tempt the prolific talisman into a drop into the Championship.

Deeney found goals hard to come by last season, netting just five times for the Hornets, but there is little to doubt that even after a poor campaign last time around he would still represent a quality signing for any second-tier outfit.
