Nottingham Forest still hold an interest in Patrick Bamford and Martyn Waghorn, despite their pursuit of Lewis Grabban this summer.

According to the Mirror’s live transfer blog (04/07, 08:36), Aitor Karanka is desperately trying to add a striker to his Nottingham Forest squad this summer, with the Spaniard considering his options.

Bamford and Waghorn remain on the radar of Karanka, despite Forest making progress in their pursuit of Grabban, who is another target.

Bamford previously worked with Karanka at Middlesbrough, where the 24-year-old is currently playing his football.

Last season at the Riverside Stadium, Bamford 44 appearances across all competitions, returning 13 goals, including 11 in the Championship, as Boro finished fifth under Tony Pulis.

Like Bamford, Waghorn also enjoyed a successful 2017/18 campaign with Ipswich Town, where the forward was involved in more goals than any other player in the Championship.

Waghorn, 28, scored 16 goals and registered a further 11 assists for mid-table Ipswich.

That duo, along with Grabban, are on Forest’s radar, with Karanka looking to reshape his playing squad after a disappointing 2017/18 campaign at the City Ground.

The Verdict

Karanka has highlighted how important the striker he signs is going to be, so he will want to make sure he’s getting the right man on board.

All three of the players linked would be good additions, with all bringing something different alongside their goals.

For Forest’s supporters, they need to be patient, as Karanka looks to get the best deal for the club.
