Nottingham Forest have confirmed that they have recalled Tyler Walker from his loan spell at League One side Lincoln City.

The 23-year-old scored 26 goals in all competitions for Mansfield Town in League Two last season, and was then sent out to test himself in the third tier in the summer.

Walker was in fine form for the Imps, establishing himself as one of the most clinical forwards in League One after scoring 16 goals in all competitions for Michael Appleton's side.

But Forest are somewhat short in attacking options in the final third, despite recently bringing in Nuno da Costa from Strasbourg, to provide cover for leading goalscorer Lewis Grabban.

Now, the club have confirmed via their official Twitter page that they have recalled Walker from his season-long loan spell at Sincil Bank, as they gear up for a promotion push in the second-half of the season.

Walker will now hope to earn regular game time and be given a chance to shine at Forest under Sabri Lamouchi, after enjoying two wonderful seasons out on loan.

The Verdict

This is a decision that has really divided Forest fans, and in my view, I don't think it's the best decision to recall him.

At Lincoln, Walker was a hugely important player - he scored so many goals and played nearly every week, so the loan spell was working wonders for his confidence.

Now, he'll return to Forest and it's unlikely that he will get into the team ahead of Lewis Grabban, and he is now effectively their third-choice striker.

He would have been best off staying at Lincoln as it is best for his development.
