Nottingham Forest youngster Arvin Appiah has signed a new long-term deal with the East Midlands club, the club have recently confirmed.

The 18-year old is undoubtedly the brightest prospect at the City Ground, after impressing for both club and country in the last year, and has recently penned a new four-and-a-half year deal with the Nottinghamshire outfit.

The England under-18 international has scored three goals in eight games for the young Three Lions, and has also been a prolific goalscorer in the Reds' youth teams.

Appiah, who has been at the club since the age of nine, capped off his Forest professional debut with a goal, in the Reds' 3-2 defeat to Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup, back in October.

The 18-year old has been, in fact, attracting interest from Germany in recent times, in the hope that the talented attacker could emulate the success that the likes of Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson have achieved in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim.

It's a big boost for Martin O'Neill's men, who currently sit 12th in the Sky Bet Championship table, seven points off the play-offs after winning just one of their last eight league games.

The Verdict

This is a big boost for Forest, keeping hold of their youngsters is essential and sustainable for the club's long-term future.

It reflects well on Forest that Appiah wanted to stay at the club despite interest from big clubs in Germany - he has really impressed this season.

Forest's academy over the years has been fantastic, producing the likes of Matty Cash, Ben Osborn and Ben Brereton, and long may it continue from a Forest fans' perspective.
