Nottingham Forest have announced that Liam Bridcutt has left the club to join Lincoln City on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 30-year-old joined the Reds in the summer of 2017 and played 27 games in his first season with the club. However, the second campaign would be much more frustrating as Bridcutt barely featured.

It's been more of the same under Sabri Lamouchi and the ex-Leeds United man spent the first half of the current season with Bolton in League One and he impressed.

However, he came back to the City Ground in the New Year but another move was inevitable and Forest confirmed on Twitter that Bridcutt has linked up with the Imps.

He is not the first player to have joined Lincoln this season, after Tyler Walker enjoyed a superb loan spell with Michael Appleton's side, scoring 14 goals - which prompted Forest to recall him earlier this week.

Bridcutt's move has gone through too late for him to be involved at Southend tomorrow, meaning he could make his debut for his new club at home to Rotherham next week.

The verdict

This is a move that will suit all parties because it's pretty clear that Bridcutt was not going to get any minutes at Forest this season.

And, he still has a lot to offer elsewhere and should prove to be a shrewd addition for Lincoln who will benefit from his ability on the ball and experience.

With his contract up in five months, he will have played his last game for Forest and it's a move that didn't really work out.

So, Bridcutt will be hoping to impress as he seeks a permanent move elsewhere in the summer.
