Championship club Nottingham Forest have confirmed that the club and their Portuguese midfielder Lica have agreed to the mutual termination of his contract as announced by the club’s official website.

The 28-year-old joined Mark Warburton’s side last year from Porto but only featured five times before being sent out on loan to his former club Estoril Praia back in Portugal.

Lica, who has been capped once by Portugal back in 2013, provided just one assist during those five games with Forest.

During his loan spell back in Portugal, the Portuguese player featured 13 times in the league, scoring once and providing one assist in the process.

Forest have had a busy summer so far as the winger becomes the sixth permanent departure out of the City Ground this summer.

The Verdict

It just never worked out for Lica at Forest.

It’s a shame for the player to have his contract terminated just one year after his arrival at the club but Forest have ambitions to push on this season and possibly grab a playoff place so there is no place for players like Lica at the City Ground.

It is likely the 28-year-old will head back to Portugal.
