Nottingham Forest are closing in on a deal to sign Fulham winger Anthony Knockaert on loan, according to Football Insider.

The Reds have already had one offer turned down by Fulham for the Frenchman, but Forest have submitted another offer which is expected to be accepted.

The Mirror (14/10, 11:20)  have recently reported that Forest are looking to acquire Knockaert on loan with a view to a permanent deal, however it remains to be seen whether an option to buy is included.

Knockaert joined Fulham initially on loan last summer, before making his move to Craven Cottage permanent for a fee of around £10.5million.

The winger is yet to feature in the Premier League for Scott Parker's side this season, though, and a move to the City Ground now looks to be in the pipeline.

Knockaert has flourished under Chris Hughton in the past. The pair won promotion from the Championship with Brighton in 2016/17, with Knockaert winning the division's Player of the Season award.

He would become Forest's 14th signing of the summer, and the Reds will hope to get a deal done before tomorrow's 5pm transfer deadline.

The Verdict

This will be an excellent signing for Forest.

Knockaert has proven to be a quality player at Championship level in the past, and he will add plenty of quality in depth out wide for the Reds.

He scores goals, creates chances and knows Hughton well. It's a no-brainer of a signing and it's one that will improve Forest a lot.
