Nottingham Forest closing in on former Manchester United man

Italian striker Federico Macheda is set to join Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season, according to Italian news wesbite Tuttomercatoweb.

The Cardiff City man has failed to really impress for the Bluebirds, and the club admitted in January that they were open to offers for the former Sampdoria and Manchester United man.

Macheda shot in to the limelight playing for the Red Devils, when he scored a superb winner on his home debut to trigger the usual hype around a young player in the Premier League.

However, things have not quite panned out for the 24-year-old, and he has struggled to make much of an impact wherever he has been since.

A loan move to Birmingham City prior to him joining Cardiff was probably the most successful spell in his career, where he managed 1 goal in every 2 games for the Blues.

Forest themselves are currently under embargo, but this does not prevent them from signing loan players. They will be hoping Macheda can offer some much needed firepower as they look to finish the season strongly.
