Nottingham Forest close in on new manager, with odds dwindling on boss with Championship experience

Nottingham Forest could have moved closer to naming a new manager after the odds on Gianfranco Zola taking the City Ground vacancy were slashed considerably this afternoon.

Regional journalist Paul Taylor, who covers Forest for the Nottingham Post, put the latest news regarding the position on his official twitter feed this afternoon.

Zola has been out of work since 2015 following a short, largely unsuccessful spell with Qatari-based outfit Al-Arabi and his only Championship experience came with Watford during the 2012/13 campaign.

Whilst in charge of the Hornets he had his team well drilled and they were one of the better sides in the division, with his team narrowly missing out on the Premier League after losing the Play-Off Final to Crystal Palace.

Forest have been without a permanent manager since Dougie Freedman was sacked in March and several names have been linked with the position since the 2015/16 campaign finished.

Whoever enters the City Ground vacancy will be tasked with improving on the disappointing 16th place finish of last season.

Nottingham Forest fans, would you welcome Zola as the club’s new manager? Who else would you prefer?
