Nottingham Forest have recalled Jorge Grant from his loan spell with Luton Town, with the midfielder returning to the City Ground after a short spell with the League One outfit.

Grant has made 22 appearances for Luton in that time, with 17 of those coming in the starting XI, the 24-year-old has also scored four goals for the club, including some impressive efforts.

Tonight, the League One outfit have confirmed that Forest opted to recall the midfielder on Monday, but for an unknown reason, it’s not been announced until this evening.

The spell at Kenilworth Road was Grant’s third loan spell away from the City Ground, with the forward-thinking midfielder also having two spells with Notts County in League Two.

According to reports from Football Insider earlier in the week, it is unlikely that Grant will have a role to play under Aitor Karanka as Forest push for promotion.

Another loan spell appears to be on the cards, with this decision likely to alert a number of EFL clubs to the talented midfielder’s availability.

The Verdict

Grant will have benefited from another loan spell away from Forest, even if this one has ended quite suddenly.

There’s every chance we will see Grant out on loan again in 2019 and Forest have to make sure that it is the right move for the player, whose development is so important now.

Forest have to realise that and put the player first.
