Nottingham Forest boss should consider returning to former club to sign versatile full-back

Published

Nottingham Forest finished in a lowly 17th position in the Sky Bet Championship last season and the remit for Aitor Karanka during 2018/19 looks from the outset to be all about spending some money and bringing the glory days back to the City Ground.

The Reds have dwindled closer to the bottom echelons of the division rather than challenge for honours near the top in recent years, but thankfully for the club’s long-suffering supporters the good times looks to be on their way back.

Former fan favourite Michael Dawson has arrived back at the club on a free transfer, whilst highly-rated duo João Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves have signed from Benfica.

More signings are likely to rock up at the City Ground and with Eric Lichaj completing his move away from Forest this week full-backs look certain to be on Karanka’s shopping list before the season gets underway.

One man who could be a shrewd addition to the Forest squad ahead of the next campaign is Middlesbrough defender Fabio, who might be one of the players that boss Tony Pulis looks to offload as he reshuffles his own pack.

The ex-Manchester United full back was used sparingly by the Boro boss last season and it seems very unlikely that he will stick around at a club that seems unwilling to utilise him as frequently as he would like.

Karanka will know all about the 27-year-olds qualities given that he signed him when Boro were promoted to the Premier League and the fact he can operate in either full-back position would make him a very attractive proposition for Forest to consider.

Nottingham Forest fans, would you welcome Fabio to the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
