Nottingham Forest slipped towards another home defeat against Hull City yesterday and the 2-0 City Ground reversal saw boss Aitor Karanka bemoan his team's current lack of confidence on home soil.

The Reds have not tasted victory on the banks of the River Trent in the Sky Bet Championship since December 9th when they defeated Bolton Wanderers, a game which also saw them score their last goal at the City Ground, with alarm bells now firmly ringing around the football club.

The Spanish boss has signed 10 new players since arriving at the City Ground and he knows that an upturn in the team's fortunes is the immediate responsibility for the club.

Two first-half goals from Jon Toral and on-loan Liverpool winger Harry Wilson condemned the Reds to their 18th defeat of the campaign and with Burton Albion up next, Karanka knows that the Reds' current confident crisis is crippling his team.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post, the Forest boss said: "I think there is a problem with confidence at the City Ground, yes.

"To play at home in this situation is not easy, but if you are a football player or a manager like me, it is quite fair that people are critical. I am responsible and I assume that pressure.

"If you want to be successful, you have to accept it when people are critical and when they are saying good things about you. The players are not different and they must accept both."

Forest narrowly avoided relegation to League One last season and given their current form it seems hard at the moment to suggest that the team won't become embroiled in another battle this season.

The Verdict

The more you listen to Aitor Karanka speak the more you grasp that he is desperate to revive the fortunes of Nottingham Forest Football Club.

Forest cannot afford to let this abysmal run of form go on for much longer and the sooner they start to find a way to goal again the better their situation will become.

A trip across the A38 to face Burton Albion looks like a massive game for the Reds next week and boss Karanka will be hoping to see a vastly improved performance against the Brewers.
