Nottingham Forest are awaiting confirmation over the signing of Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence.

Reports emerged from the Northern Echo in the final hour of the transfer window that Forest were among those in talks to sign Spence on loan.

Middlesbrough are then believed to have agreed terms over a deal with Forest for Spence in the dying embers of the night, as per the Northern Echo.

Forest, though, are said to have rushed to get the relevant paperwork in before the 11pm deadline, but are confident that they managed to do so.

The Reds are still awaiting confirmation that they have signed Spence, in what would be their ninth signing of what turned out to be a busy summer.

Forest also managed to bring in Braian Ojeda, Mohamed Drager and Xande Silva on permanent deals on the final day of the window.

Elsewhere, Nuno da Costa and Harry Arter joined Caen and Charlton Athletic on loan respectively, with Chris Hughton making the final tweaks to his squad.

The Verdict

Spence emerged as a late target for the Reds, and it would be a great signing to get done to be honest.

We don't know how long Jordi Osei-Tutu will be out for, but the fact they brought in Drager and are looking to bring in another right-back in Spence suggests his injury doesn't look too good.

Spence is a player who is wanted by Premier League sides, so it would be a positive addition for Forest as they await to hear their fate.
