Nottingham Forest are one of the clubs chasing Hakeeb Adelakun this summer, according to HITC Sport.

Hull City and Sunderland are also interested in the Scunthorpe United star, who is out of contract this summer.

The 21-year-old is yet to commit his future to the Iron and his contract situation has alerted a number of clubs in the Championship and League One, including Forest, Hull and recently-relegated Sunderland.

Scunthorpe would be entitled to a compensation fee for the former Crystal Palace and West Ham United schoolboy as he has been with the club since 2012, where they have aided his development.

The exciting winger has progressed into one of the best players at the club and one of the most impressive talents outside of the Championship.

His tally of five goals and 14 assists have not gone unnoticed, as it helped his side reach the play-offs this term.

But for the second consecutive year, Scunthorpe fell at the hurdle of the play-off semi-finals, losing to Rotherham United over two legs this time out.

With Scunthorpe set to play in League One again next year, Adelakun could be looking for a route out of Glanford Park.

Sunderland previously tried to capture Adelakun in January and want him to fire them back to the Championship while Hull and Nottingham Forest can offer him Championship football.

The Verdict

Adelakun is one of the best young talents in the Football League and he would be an asset for any Championship club.

The youngster contributes with pace, skill, goals and assists, making him a perfect replacement for loan star Harry Wilson or possible departure Kamil Grosicki at Hull while Nottingham Forest desperately need some creativity in attacking midfield.

Sunderland face a battle to keep him with Championship clubs keen but they will be hoping he can spearhead their attack next term.

For all of these clubs, a mere compensation fee is an absolute bargain for someone who has already proven his talent at League One level despite his young age.
