AFC Bournemouth forward Jermain Defoe has recently dropped a huge hint on his future with the Cherries, reports the Mirror via the Nottingham Post.

The 36-year old has been frozen out at the Vitality Stadium - he has featured for just 21 minutes in the Premier League this term and has been limited to just 7 appearances in all competitions this term.

Championship duo Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United have been linked with a move to land the experienced forward, in a bid to bolster their promotion pushes.

Speaking to the Mirror, Defoe said: "We’ll see what happens - at the end of the day I’m a footballer and I like playing football. I’m not playing football at the minute so we’ll see what happens."

The Reds currently sit just outside of the playoff places in 7th position, whereas the Blades sit 3rd in the table, just five points off the automatic promotion places.

The Verdict

This is a huge boost for Forest and United - Defoe will want to get out and play some football as he approaches the latter stages of his career.

Forest may have Lewis Grabban, Daryl Murphy and Karim Ansarifard, and the Blades may have David McGoldrick, Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke in their ranks - but Defoe would add a touch of class.
