Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest and MK Dons have both expressed an interest in signing Colchester United midfielder George Moncur, according to Sky Sports News.
The 22-year-old, who joined the League One club from West Ham United in 2014, has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for the team this season, including one in the win over Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup at the weekend.
The report claims Forest are keen to bring Moncur to the Championship side, but would have to wait until the summer as the club is currently the subject of a transfer embargo.
Forest’s transfer restrictions could leave the window open for the Blades, who are challenging for a playoff spot in League One.
Sky also claims that Nigel Adkins’s team have made contact with Colchester over a potential deal for the former England youth international, while MK Dons have been linked with the player as well.
Despite Moncur’s form for Colchester this season, the team sit 23rd in the table, five points from safety.
Kevin Keen’s Colchester side did defeat Championship strugglers Charlton Athletic 2-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday, meaning the League One club progress to the fourth round of the prestigious competition.
