Sabri Lamouchi and Nottingham Forest have started the season well so far, mainly thanks to their resilience and their refusal to give in, always looking to get something out of each and every game and that is a credit to their determination.

Nottingham Forest acquired goalkeeper Arijanet Muric from Manchester City on a season long loan in summer along with the permanent signing of Brice Samba from SM Caen for an undisclosed fee.

Here we will take a look at how the two goalkeepers have faired so far in this six-pointer...

How have both played so far this season?

Arijanet Muric has played in four games so far this season for the Championship side, conceding four goals so he is currently conceding one goal a game, which isn't the worst record over the period of a season but having only played four games doesn't make for good reading. Two of those goals came opening day at home to West Brom where Muric was beaten too easily on both occasions.

Brice Samba has played in three games so far this season and has so far played a lot better for Lamouchi's side. Samba has only conceded on average 0.7 goals per game and has a very impressive save ratio of 83% and has one clean sheet in those three games.

What is different between the two keepers?

One of the key differences between the two goalkeepers is that Brice Samba is much more of a shot-stopper than Muric as Muric only boasts a 67% save ratio compared to Samba's 83%. This may have been expected with Muric coming from Manchester City, where they are more focused on playing with the ball at their feet and playing between the back four until a space opens up to move forward.

What will Lamouchi be thinking?

Lamouchi may be thinking that with the way Nottingham Forest have setup this season, Samba will be the better option as he is a lot more no-nonsense than Muric, Muric has made two mistakes leading to goals this season whereas Samba is yet to make a mistake and this may just sway Lamouchi's thinking. The only issue may be if Nottingham Forest have promised game time to Muric and assured Guardiola of this, this may make it a difficult situation for the Nottingham Forest boss.

Does one keeper fit the philosophy better than the other?

In my opinion, yes. Brice Samba is a lot more simple with the ball and will hook the ball clear where needs be whereas Muric has been brought through in a completely different background full of elite Premier League winners and he can be prone to over-playing rather than getting rid of the ball at the best opportunity. Muric enjoys trying lofted balls into the full-back and into midfield but where these break down, the opposition is right on top of them and have a chance of scoring whereas I would trust Samba a lot more to make the save if he made a mistake.

What will the fans be thinking?

I personally reckon the fans will want Lamouchi to stick with Samba as he has been the most consistent out of the two goalkeepers. The fans will want Lamouchi to come to a decision on which keeper he prefers after constantly switching them throughout the opening seven games so far.

Finally, in your opinion, who should be starting?

In my opinion, the starting goalkeeper on a consistent basis should be Brice Samba, you know what you're getting with him whereas with Muric you know he may have a mistake in him as he has shown already so far this season. I personally think Samba will win Nottingham Forest more points than lose them whereas I can only see Muric making more mistakes from here on in and that could cost Nottingham Forest of their play-off hopes.
