Nottingham Forest and Millwall rival Dutch club in hunt for 22-year-old Championship man

Hull City defender Max Clark is attracting attention from a trio of clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Hull Daily Mail.

Clark is due to become a free agent this summer after contract negotiations broke down with Hull and if he does not agree fresh terms, he will be available for a mere compensation fee.

Millwall, Nottingham Forest and Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem are all monitoring his situation and readying a potential swoop for the youngster.

It has been a successful breakthrough season at the KCOM Stadium for Clark, who has taken advantage of Hull’s relegation to earn first team minutes.

After spending last year on loan at Cambridge United in League Two, the left-back – who can also play as a winger – has played 30 games for the Tigers this season, including 25 starts in the Championship.

The 22-year-old’s displays have caught the attention of Millwall, Nottingham Forest and one other Championship club, who have been alerted to the fact that his contract is expiring soon and have made contact with his representatives about a possible deal.

Vitesse Arnhem are also interested in Clark as former Hull manager Leonid Slutsky is their new manager and he is eyeing a raid on his old club.

The Verdict

Clark is a decent young option to have in your Championship squad, although question marks remain over whether he would be a regular starter. The 22-year-old would deputise well for James Meredith at Millwall (especially if Harry Toffolo is released) but Nottingham Forest ideally need to snap up a better option in that department. A move to the Netherlands could be interesting for the former England youth international, although the Hull-born defender is likely to want to remain at the KCOM Stadium and fight with Stephen Kingsley for his place if a suitable contract offer is made to him before the end of the season.
