Nottingham Forest and Arsenal reach player agreement

Published

on

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Jordi Osei-Tutu has returned to Arsenal after his loan spell at the City Ground.

The right-back joined the Reds in August and it was initially planned that he would remain in the East Midlands until the end of the season.

However, it’s been a frustrating first few months for the player at Forest, with injuries restricting him to just four appearances in the league so far in the campaign.

Therefore, the club announced on their official site that an agreement had been reached with the Gunners to mutually terminate the loan deal of the 23-year-old.

Steve Cooper is well-stocked for options at right-back now, with Djed Spence extending his loan until the end of the season and the club are also closing in on the signing of Richie Laryea from Toronto FC, meaning Osei-Tutu was going to struggle for minutes when he did return to full fitness.

His last appearance for Forest came prior to Christmas when he was forced off just before half-time in the win over Hull City.

The verdict

Firstly, you have to say that you have sympathy for the player as he would’ve wanted to make a big impact at Forest but injuries have stopped him getting the game time he wanted.

It’s clear that Osei-Tutu has talent but Forest now have Spence and Laryea looks like another shrewd addition so it’s not like they’re going to miss the Arsenal man.

So, a return to the capital makes sense and Cooper will feel that he has enough depth in that role to cope moving forward.
