Nottingham Forest are amongst a trio of Sky Bet Championship clubs chasing a deal for Peterborough United’s Gwion Edwards.

According to HITC, Forest, along with Bristol City and Ipswich Town, are interested in Edwards, who has caught the eye for Posh in League One this season.

The 25-year-old has scored seven goals across all competitions this season, helping Steve Evans’ side to a ninth placed finish in League One.

Since arriving in Peterborough in 2016, Edwards has bagged 16 goals across all competitions, becoming one of League One’s most impressive attackers.

Aitor Karanka, who is keen to oversee a huge summer overhaul at the City Ground, is looking to add the winger to his squad, as he looks to help Forest improve on their 17th place finish in the Championship.

Peterborough are bracing themselves for interest in Edwards, with Lee Johnson keen to add some pace to his Bristol City side and Ipswich also interested.

Posh’s failure to win promotion this season has cast doubt over a number of their players, with James Marriott and Marcus Maddison also on Nottingham Forest’s radar ahead of this summer.

The Verdict

Interest in Edwards is hardly a surprise, with the positive winger showing signs that he is ready to take the step up into the Championship next season.

Peterborough’s failure to win promotion this season looks like it will cost them, with Steve Evans looking likely to lose a number of key men in the coming months.

The interest from a number of Championship clubs could lead to a bidding war for Edwards’ service.
