‘Nothing to lose’ – Some Bolton Wanderers fans respond to recent club update

Bolton Wanderers have recently confirmed the signing of former Stoke City midfielder Stephen Ireland on a short-term deal.

The 32-year-old recently plied his trade at Stoke City, before his four-and-a-half year stint at the Bet365 Stadium came to an end when his contract expired at the club last term.

Having made over 300 appearances in the top flight for the likes of Manchester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle United, the Irishman could be a shrewd signing for Bolton, who are enduring a tough time on the pitch of late.

Their 1-0 defeat to local rivals Blackburn Rovers at the weekend was their fifth loss of the campaign, and Phil Parkinson’s men sit 16th in the Championship table after twelve league outings.

Having made just five appearances for Stoke last term, Ireland will need time to get back to full match fitness, but in the long run could be a very smart signing from Parkinson.
