Birmingham City fell to a fifth consecutive defeat last night as they went down 3-2 to West Midlands rivals West Brom at The Hawthorns.

It was an entertaining clash for the neutral, with Blues winger Connor Mahoney at the heart of a lot that went on.

The on-loan Bournemouth man was crucial for Garry Monk's men going forward, creating both goals thanks to excellent deliveries from two corners.

However, he was also involved in the penalty incident that brought the Baggies back level for a second time after he was adjudged to have fouled Conor Townsend.

The Blues man slid in and the official had no hesitation in pointing to the spot, although replays have shown that the 22-year-old got a touch on the ball and any challenge was also outside the box.

Despite that, it was given and Jay Rodriguez scored.

Mahoney took to twitter to give his verdict on the incident and whilst he revealed he thought he got the ball, he did also apologise to the fans.

But, they were clear in their responses that he'd done nothing wrong and many praised the player for his overall contribution to the team.
