It’s been a strange summer for David Stockdale, who has been cast aside at Birmingham City and told he will not be part of Garry Monk’s plans heading into the new season.

Leeds United were keen to take the Birmingham goalkeeper on board, but the Blues rejected Leeds’ approach to take the 32-year-old on-loan, with Stockdale still at St Andrew’s at this late stage of the summer transfer window.

The Blues start their season this afternoon against Norwich City, with Stockdale not set to feature.

Nevertheless, the goalkeeper has taken to Twitter to deliver a classy message, wishing his teammates good luck, before giving a special mention to Connal Trueman, who is in contention to start in goal.

Birmingham’s supporters have praised the goalkeeper’s message, with many moving to wish Stockdale well wherever he ends up in the future.

Here is the best of that reaction…
