It has been a difficult year at Aston Villa for Steve Bruce, with the experienced manager failing to inspire the club to a serious push for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship.

It has only been the last month of Championship football that has seen Villa look like promotion contenders under Bruce, with the Villans remaining unbeaten across September and climbing to seventh in the table.

A 2-1 victory over Reading and a 1-0 Second City derby victory against Birmingham City from last season were nominated, along with three results from the start of the current campaign – victories over Norwich City, Barnsley and Burton Albion.
