Europa League champions Villarreal have agreed a €25m deal with AFC Bournemouth to sign 24-year-old winger Arnaut Danjuma, according to Sky Sports News (August 18, 12:01pm).
The Dutchman was one of the Cherries’ star players last term, scoring 15 goals and grabbing seven assists in 33 league appearances, before going on to score twice more in the play-off semi-finals in May.
However, that wasn’t enough to overcome eventual winners Brentford who won the tie 3-2 on aggregate – and with that – left Danjuma’s future at the Vitality Stadium in doubt.
Quiz: Have AFC Bournemouth won or lost more against each of these 25 English teams?
He had been the subject of interest from Premier League quintet Everton, Wolves, West Ham United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton over the summer as well as Unai Emery’s side.
But it was Villarreal who made the first move for his services, launching a £13m bid last month that was rejected by officials on the south coast.
After joining the Cherries for £13.7m back in 2019, with three years reported to be left on his current deal, this was a deal that was never going to be acceptable. But the Spanish side have seemingly upped their offer drastically and after having this latest bid accepted, they look set to welcome Danjuma to the Estadio de la Ceramica.
With Scott Parker’s side look set to rake in around €25m, but lose one of their best players in the process, we take a look at some of the latest Twitter reaction to this news from Bournemouth fans.
I thought he was worth more but it’s a buyers market. Shame, but at least it isn’t another protracted King/Fraser fiasco.
Fans should not expect much, if any, to be reinvested. We won’t get it as a lump sum in one payment and we need cash to survive the season. #afcb 👍🍒

#afcb Very sad to see Arnie leave but top marks to the board for holding out for a good price after Villarreal's first lowball offer.
Not expecting big splash signings but gives us the room to bring in a few now -realy hoping CCV is one of those.

Well this saga is finally over. This is money the club need to be able to strength further for another promotion push. Hopefully not long before we have news of a striker on the way and then maybe cover for Brooks. Would prefer this money didn’t all go to Cahill 😔 #afcb https://t.co/yvrsLLl8I0

£7 million profit on Danjuma. Pretty good business after one good season in the champ and given we knew he was desperate to leave #afcb

At least Danjuma hasn't been dragged out to deadline day. Good money, probably not enough for his value to us in all honesty. #afcb
