Middlesbrough have confirmed that a deal is in place to bring West Ham United goalkeeper Darren Randolph to the Riverside Stadium.

The Teesside club's website has stated that the Republic of Ireland international will arrive at their training ground today to finalise a deal, with a medical still to complete and personal terms to agree.

Monk has been in the market for a new goalkeeper since his arrival at the Riverside this summer, clearly unsatisfied with the options of Connor Ripley and Dimi Konstantopoulos between the sticks, following the departures of experienced 'keepers Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan following the club's relegation to the second tier.

Boro fans reacted to the news that Randolph is set to sign on the dotted line, impressed with the coup of an experienced and reliable presence.

The signing of a goalkeeper is never going to get pulses racing in the same way that say, the arrival of club-record signing Britt Assombalonga did earlier in the week, but Boro fans seem quietly impressed with their new recruit and his Premier League experience.
