A number of Sheffield United supporters have bemoaned the performance of forward David McGoldrick following the Blades’ goalless draw away at Swansea City on Saturday.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s side were aiming to get their season off and running and respond to last weekend’s opening day defeat against Birmingham City.

However, the Blades were unable to produce enough moments of quality in the final third both with their chance creation and finishing when they did get one or two opportunities in front of goal.

McGoldrick started the game playing off Billy Sharp with the forward getting the chance to impress Jokanovic once again after he had started their opening day loss to Birmingham City as well.

The 33-year-olf though struggled to really make much of a positive influence on the game with him only having 35 touches of the ball throughout the 90 minutes.

McGoldrick did get on the ball in some promising positions in the final third, but he was guilty of firing presentable chances well off the target as he spurned some of the Blades’ best opportunities to win the game.

Sheffield United needed more out of McGoldrick in the final third when he had the chances to finish and as a result, they were unable to pick up what could have been a morale-boosting three points.

Many Sheffield United supporters bemoaned the 33-year-old’s lack of end product in the final third and there were one or two who suggested the Blades need to move on in terms of having him start regularly for them.

Here, we take a look at some of the reactions on social media…
