Experiencing a real upturn in form in recent weeks following a difficult spell, it appears that Leeds United’s promotion push is back on track.

Recent wins over Middlesbrough, Barnsley and QPR has put Thomas Christiansen’s men firmly back in contention for a playoff spot, and the Dane will look to push on in the new year to ensure that his side are involved in the end of season shoot-out.

New faces are needed in January, with a striker set to be at the top of the former APOEL boss’ wishlist.

The likes of Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Pawel Cibicki and Jay-Roy Grot have struggled since joining in the summer, and Christiansen is in desperate need of a man to get the goals in the second half of the season.

With that in mind, the manager may target these two stars…

Jack Marriott

Born just up the road in Beverley, 23-year-old Marriott joined Peterborough United in the summer from Luton Town, and has scored goals for fun since arriving at London Road.

Thirteen league goals and two assists to his name already, Marriott is one of the hottest properties in League One, and has a proven track-record of scoring goals in this country.

Christiansen has opted for a policy of foreign recruitment in the striking positions during his tenure so far, so perhaps he should grab some tried and tested men to help guide his side to glory this season.

A number of top stars have emerged from the lower leagues to shine in the Championship in recent years, including Leeds’ very own Kemar Roofe, and Marriott could be the latest man to make the step up to Elland Road.

Tom Bradshaw

Another tried and tested home talent, I think that Bradshaw could score a lot of goals in this Leeds team.

The Welshman has impressed in a Barnsley side struggling towards the bottom of the table, so imagine what he would be capable of with Alioski and Saiz laying on the goals for him.

The 25-year-old may not be the big foreign signing Leeds fans have come to expect since Christiansen’s arrival, but that method is clearly not working at the moment.

Bradshaw would be available for a relatively modest fee and comes with a record of being able to put the ball in the back of the net at this level, so there is no reason why the player doesn’t deserve a shot at Elland Road in the new year.
