Wolves have had a relatively quiet transfer window so far although it is expected to pick up in the final few days for Nuno Espirito Santo.

The club managed to bring in Valencia youngster Rafa Mir at the start of the window and fringe player Michal Zyro departed on loan for Charlton Athletic.

Whilst you can’t discount anything given the business Wolves have done over recent windows, it doesn’t look as though any major incomings are expected, with Santo happy with the players he has.

That’s not surprising really, with Wolves boasting a comfortable lead at the top of the Championship after a fantastic season under their Portuguese manager so far.

But, there are still players in the Wolves squad that aren’t needed and we look at two players who could head out before the window shuts.

Ben Marshall

The former Blackburn man is a near certainty to leave before the deadline although where he ends up is still unknown.

Marshall has been unfortunate really as he is a victim of the formation Wolves play. Predominantly a right-winger, the 26-year old would have to play as a wing-back to get anywhere near the team in the 3-4-3 Santo uses.

Whilst many feel he could be backup in that position, the manager clearly doesn’t. On the few occasions he has featured this season, Marshall was used as one of the advanced midfielder.

However, with Ivan Cavaleiro, Helder Costa and Diogo Jota as competition, it’s easy to see why he hasn’t played.

Nevertheless, Marshall would be a fine signing for many sides in the Championship.

Joe Mason

The striker has returned to Wolves after a loan spell at Burton Albion was cut short following an inflamed appendix.

Fortunately, Mason is now fit and healthy and ready to play but that looks unlikely to come at Wolves.

Even with the clubs lack of depth up front, the former Cardiff man is behind Leo Bonatini and Rafa Mir. Plus, Santo would probably use Cavaleiro as a forward before turning to Mason in reality.

Therefore, he would be best served moving on. Whether it’s a loan or a permanent deal, Wolves will be looking to shift the attacker before the deadline.
