It's been a decent season so far for Bristol City and they'll be looking to convert that into a play-off place come the end of the campaign.

The Robins have been one of the surprise packages of the season so far and they'll be disappointed if they are not a part of the final shoot-out come the end of the year.

To even say that, though, is testament to how far they have come this season as we head towards the end of the January transfer window.

It remains to be seen, then, if Lee Johnson moves to sign some new players before Deadline Day but we've been thinking about him perhaps trimming his squad down before the window shuts.

With that said, let's take a look at a pair of Robins players that might be better off leaving the club...

Gustav Engvall

It's not really worked for Engvall with the Robins and it'd be no surprise to see him move away before the end of the window.

The men from Ashton Gate have far better options in front of him in his position and his loan spell away earlier this season suggested he's not in Lee Johnson's plans for the foreseeable.

A club might come in for him from Scandinavia, though, and he'd surely jump at the chance to move.

Niclas Eliasson

Eliasson has featured a bit more than Engvall but he's still not exactly been a first team regular.

Lee Johnson might be tempted to only send him out on loan this month to see what he can do when he plays more often but if a decent enough bid came in it'd be no surprise if it was accepted.

The Robins might even look to reinvest such cash but they'd better think of a way of doing so quickly.
