It's safe to say that it's not been the spell that Marc McNulty would have originally had in mind when he signed for Championship side Reading.

The forward arrived at the Madejski Stadium from Coventry City with an impressive goal record to his name, but struggled for consistent game time with the Berkshire-based team.

McNulty was sent out on loan to Sunderland in the summer of 2019, but again, struggled to make a notable impact. That loan spell was cut short, as he signed for Scottish side Hibernian for the remainder of this year's campaign.

Speaking in a recent interview with the 'What The Falk Podcast', McNulty issued an update on his future, and stated that he will speak to Royals boss Mark Bowen before making a decision on where his future lies.

"I’ve got another two years at Reading so the first step for me has to be to speak to the manager there when I get the chance. I need to ask what his thoughts are about me and whether he wants me to come back to Reading and have a go there."

Plenty of Reading supporters took to social media to issue their thoughts on McNulty's future at the club.
