‘Not good enough’ – Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday fans issue thoughts on 26-y/o’s future at Hillsborough

Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping they can finish this year’s campaign strongly after a poor run of results in the Championship saw them slide down the second tier standings.

One player that has struggled for consistent game time and out-of-contract in the summer is Joey Pelupessy, who has made just 17 appearances for the Owls this term in all competitions.

Speaking in an interview with the Yorkshire Post, Pelupessy issued an update on his contract talks with the club, and is keen to extend his stay at Hillsborough.

“To have had (contract) talks by now was the plan but it’s been a bit quiet since this crisis. We had (initial) conversations but not much (was said at that stage) and before they could really get going, it (the pandemic) had started. They’ve stopped now because no one knows what’s going to happen.

“When we get back to training I think the conversations will start again. Maybe it’s too soon now. But I hope we can agree something because if the contract is finished and the season is back on, you cannot play.”

Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday fans took to the ‘Sheffield Wednesday Fans Forum’ Facebook group to issue their thoughts on whether Pelupessy should be offered a new deal in the near future.

Take a look at the best of the reaction below….

Michael Turner: “Good honest worker but overall not good enough if we want to progress.”

Stephen Stuart: “Not good enough for the National League.”

Sean Homar: “Sadly he’s one of the few not up to the standard, works hard and genuine guy but not what we need.”

Dean Meegan: “Definitely not. Not good enough I’m afraid.”

Andy Woodger: “I’ll pay for his fare back to Netherlands’s one way.”

Mark Crossley: “Not good enough. But, if the rest of the team put in as much effort as he does we’d still be in the play offs. Can’t fault his endeavour, so will not insult him with cheap jibes.”

Paul Monette: “Complete waste of space.”

Paul Smalley: “No way.”
