Ashley Fletcher is set to leave Middlesbrough and join Watford on a free transfer, according to Football Insider.

Neil Warnock is looking to reshape his attacking options this summer, having left Fletcher and Britt Assombalonga out of the matchday squad for the final four games of the season.

Fletcher has struggled for game time under Warnock this season, making only 12 appearances in the Championship and scoring only two goals.

But with his contract set to run out next month, Fletcher is set to seal a surprise move to the Premier League, with Watford set to sign him on a free transfer.

Football Insider also claim that Fletcher is set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Vicarage Road, in a move which has surprised many Boro fans.

Fletcher scored 11 goals in the Championship last season – the only time in his career where he has hit double figures in a league campaign.

But the Hornets clearly see a hidden gem in the former Manchester United striker, who has spent time on loan with Sunderland and Barnsley in his career.
