With the way the season has started for Leeds United, everyone connected to the club will be hoping that promotion to the Premier League will become a reality next May.

Things are going well, perhaps better than expected, and the feeling is that Leeds have the quality and the stability to get there this season.

If it doesn’t happen then so be it.

We have to accept it.

Many clubs took a few seasons to get promoted when their fans were quietly confident that they would do it on the first attempt.

We must not fall in the trap of assuming that because Leeds are playing well they are bound to go up.

There are plenty of teams in this league who will have a real go at stopping us from going up.

But the progressive nature of this club is there to see after years of stagnation.

Leeds United are set up for the Premier League. That is in no doubt. But so are Middlesbrough, Derby, Norwich, Fulham and Aston Villa.

You only have to look at the signings Leeds have made recently.

They’re all young and most of them underdeveloped.

These will become better players and if according to plan will be great players for us when we get there.

If Leeds go up this season it will be on the backs of established players such as Jansson, Ayling, Phillips and O’Kane.

Saiz and Alioski are the trump cards.

Getting Lasogga, too, might be the difference.
