On-loan Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy has been a mainstay in the Sheffield Wednesday side this term and some Owls fans have been debating whether or not the club should sign him in the summer.

Murphy joined the club on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day and has been a first-team regular under both Lee Bullen and Garry Monk.

The winger has featured 35 times for Wednesday in total and dazzled at times for the Championship side.

With five goals and two assists to his name this season, Murphy may feel that he could have had more of an impact in the final third for the Owls.

That said, only Steven Fletcher has scored more goals than him this season in the Wednesday squad, while only Fletcher, Barry Bannan, and Adam Reach have more combined goals and assists.

It looks set to be an interesting summer for Wednesday, with a significant number of players set to become free agents.

Murphy's current deal with Newcastle is set to expire in 2021, which may mean the Premier League club will look to cash in on him this summer.

The prospect of Wednesday capitalising on that and making a move for him has proved divisive among Owls fans, many of whom have taken to Twitter to voice their thoughts.
