West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a move for Lazio forward Vedat Muriqi this month.

The Baggies have already signed Daryl Dike but it seems they may not be done yet as A Spor has reported that Muriqi is travelling to the UK to sign for the West Midlands club.

So would he be a good signing for Albion? And do they need him?

Our FLW writers offer their thoughts...

I am not convinced that this is the type of signing West Brom need.

We know that Valerien Ismael likes to have a presence in forward areas, however, his lack of goals and regular minutes does not justify a move to a club with promotion aspirations.

Ultimately, the Baggies need to be recruiting players who can make an impact now, and in the Premier League, as that is the ultimate objective.

And whilst he could come in and cause problems at Championship level, I do not think that he can take them to the next level and then play regularly in the Premier League.

Dike is an excellent capture, Muriqi would not be.

I think Muriqi will be an interesting addition for the Baggies, especially as he isn’t exactly prolific.

I would guess that he will provide back up to Daryl Dike as realistically they are strikers that are both in the same mould.

It will be interesting to see what this all means for Jordan Hugill at the Hawthorns as this deal would surely see him fall even further down the pecking order.

Muriqi adds another option to the mix and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the Championship.

However I would say this isn’t a signing that the club necessarily needs right now.

I have to admit that I'm quite surprised that this move has come about.

Lazio spent almost £15 million on the Kosovan striker last year and to be fair with his last few clubs before his move to Italy he's been very prolific.

With Daryl Dike coming in this month though to The Hawthorns, I did not expect another physical striker to be arriving for Valerien Ismael.

We know from his time at Barnsley that Ismael likes to have a lot of options up-front and he tends to use all of them in the space of a 90-minute match, and you can say that Muriqi fits the bill in terms of a physical presence.

I think this is a good signing for the Baggies when it's done though regardless of his poor scoring record for Lazio - it's just perhaps taken a lot of people by surprise!
