Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett will be a satisfied man this morning, having signed Wigan Athletic striker James Vaughan on loan until the end of the season, it has been confirmed on the Portsmouth official club website.
The former Everton striker joins Portsmouth with them in second spot in League One, five points off leaders Luton Town with a game in hand.
So as Vaughan joins his 11th club since he made his first-team debut, how good a signing will he be for Portsmouth?
“It could be.
“Vaughan has been very hit and miss over recent seasons but has always tended to do well in League One.
“Pompey lost a fair few key players this month so it was an important signing regardless.”
“Not convinced he’s a good signing, no.
“I’m not sure why they needed him.
“They’ve got good strikers, lots of them, it’s the system stopping them being free scoring.”
“He could well fire them to promotion.
“Having been a star in the Premier League and Championship – he has the ability to shine for Pompey and score the goals they need.
“It’s a marquee January signing and one I think will work out extremely well.”
