Birmingham City today announced the departure of Emilio Nsue who has left the club to join Cypriot side Apoel on a permanent deal.

The right-sided player joined Blues from Middlesbrough in the January transfer window last season and in total played just under 40 games for the West Midlands side, scoring one goal.

Nsue was believed to have cost around £1m at the time, with further add-ons taking the deal to £2m if they were met during his time at St. Andrew's.

For most of those, he was used as a right-back but the arrival of Maxime Colin from Brentford has meant that Nsue has found game time hard to come by this season.

Whilst he was a defender, Nsue's seemed to enjoy going forward more than the defensive side of the game and that's what many fans made reference to after his departure was confirmed by the club on twitter this afternoon.
