‘Not bad for a 34-year-old whose legs have gone’ – Nottingham Forest fans react to Daryl Murphy brace

Nottingham Forest striker Daryl Murphy secured the three points for the Republic of Ireland last night to leave them still with a chance of taking a place in next year’s World Cup finals.

The big striker, signed in the summer as a replacement for the outgoing Britt Assombalonga, struck early on to give the hosts the lead, before scoring a fine header to secure the three points for his country.

Murphy has quickly become a fan favourite at the City Ground since his move, after many claimed it was a step backwards for the club in terms of replacing Assombalonga.

However, he has hit six league goals for Forest so far, and the Reds’ fans will be hoping he can continue his form into next weekend when local rivals Derby County are the opposition.

Plenty of Forest fans took to Twitter last night to praise their man though, and we at FootballLeagueWorld have taken a look at some of the best reactions to Murphy’s double last night…
