Birmingham Manager Garry Monk is looking to sign veteran goalkeeper Lee Camp before the transfer deadline passes at 5pm on Thursday.

Monk is in the market for a goalkeeper after telling Tomas Kuszczak and David Stockdale they can both leave the club.

With both players’ Blues career seemingly over, it leaves Monk’s men with just Connal Trueman as their first-team goalkeeper.

And with the transfer window closing in less than two days, Birmingham are keen to bring in reinforcements between the sticks with Camp.

The Cardiff goalkeeper has not made a single appearance for the Bluebirds since his move from Rotherham last summer.

Camp was loaned out to Sunderland and made 12 appearances in what was a dismal season for the Black Cats who were relegated to League One.

Would the transfer of Camp be a good one for a Birmingham City side who are in need of a backup goalkeeper?

We discuss…

They do need a keeper, young Trueman had a decent game this weekend, but even some experience to push him on will be welcomed.

I like Camp, he's a journeyman, but you pick up knowledge and know how on your travels.

Birmingham need that right now.

Camp was awful at Sunderland last season and is not at Championship level anymore.

I really do not understand Garry Monk's thinking this summer, trying to get rid of experienced goalkeepers like David Stockdale and Tomasz Kuszczak if he only wants to replace them with Camp.

Connal Trueman had an impressive debut in his first ever Football League game, and perhaps he should be given a chance ahead of Camp.

George Dagless

It's an odd one.

He's not an improvement on David Stockdale or Tomasz Kuszczak really so I think Garry Monk might just be regretting telling his two stoppers he doesn't need one.

It's a big chance for Trueman though.

Jay Taylor

It looks stupid from Monk now saying his two most senior goalkeepers can leave the club.

Camp is no better than what they already have so they the manager has shot himself in the foot.

He was relegated while on loan at Sunderland, and his career has been on the decline for some time.

I would stay clear, but, needs must - Monk will have to follow through with the interest.
