Despite Derby County’s off-field issues, Wayne Rooney may be feeling fairly satisfied with his side’s start to the season.
Many expected the Rams to get off to a lacklustre start to the Championship campaign, after Rooney was unable to bring in any new players in the summer transfer window.
But Derby have got off to a steady start to the season, losing only one of their opening five games in the Championship.
Derby beat Hull City away from home, and should have really held onto their lead against local rivals Nottingham Forest last time out.
But after five games, Derby sit 15th in the league table having picked up six points, with Rooney likely to be fairly satisfied.
Last night, there was a chance for Rooney to unwind slightly, featuring for England in their Soccer Aid clash with World XI.
Rooney was on the losing team, though, as he dusted off his boots and got back onto the pitch rather than managing on it.
Rams fans watched on, of course, with BBC’s Ed Dawes asking the question as to whether he should register himself as a player in his already weak Derby squad.
Here, we take a look at their thoughts…
Hes walking against celebrities and retired footballers.

Given the circumstances of our squad I wouldn’t rule it out at some point this season 🤣🤣

Ed this is mad. He was shattered after about 20 minutes.

Only if we play walking football.

An unfortunate take, keep him on the bench

What? He’s strolled around, done a few short passes, missed loads of long balls and can’t hit the target. Just what we need 😂

Nah, not fit enough and playing would complicate his job.

Not a chance
