The Canaries need to make improvements to their squad for the upcoming season.

Daniel Farke's first season was a slight disappointment for fans because they finished in 14th place rather than challenging for the play-offs as hoped.

His style took a while to be fully implemented which definitely contributed, but they severely struggled in the goalscoring department with 49 in the league all season.

Their parachute payments are coming to an end which means they have to deal with a high wage bill with key players such as James Maddison, who likely to be sold due to the heavy Premier League interest he has garnered.

The Premier League could be a place to find players to improve their team, though.

Here are five suitable candidates...

Hamer is a free agent this summer due to his contract not being extended by Leicester. He could replace the departing Angus Gunn who was only at the club on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

He has experience at this level from his time with Charlton, and he would be cheap due to his contract situation. The Canaries have Michael McGovern as well, so there would be a strong competition for the starting spot, which is good for a team that wants to challenge for the top six. Therefore, Hamer would provide back-up at the very least, so he would be a useful acquisition.

Mateju was signed by Brighton from Viktoria Plzen last summer for £2.25 million. The 21-year-old has barely featured for the club with 2 appearances for the senior side altogether. They might struggle to sign him permanently, but he could be the potential solution to their right-back issues even if he was on loan.

Southampton loanee Harrison Reed ended up filling in there last season due to the issues with Ivo Pinto, so Mateju could be another cheap way to bolster the squad, which is important considering the financial situation of the club.

Rosenior is a free agent after being released by Brighton at the end of his contract. He played a bit-part role for the Seagulls with three league appearances all season. This is another potential solution for the right-back role alongside Mateju.

The 33-year-old would bring significant experience to the position and the back line from his time in the Premier League and the Championship. This would be a short-term solution, but it could be what is needed in the next few seasons to help support the promising youngsters coming through into the first-team.

Skalak is another Brighton player that would fit in at Norwich. He was heavily involved in their promotion push, but has been squeezed out of the first-team since they moved up to the Premier League.

The Czech winger would be an experienced option to bring in who would be able to adapt quickly and provide results in the short-term. This would add to Farke's attacking options as well as helping deal with the potential loss of Maddison and Josh Murphy.

Sako is a free agent this summer due to his contract running out with Crystal Palace. He is versatile because he can play as a centre-forward or on the left-wing. Norwich have had issues with their strikers this season, so using him that role could be a potential solution.

Injuries are his main issue, though, with ankle and ligaments issues ruling him out for a large part of the season and he isn't expected to be back until August, so he's likely to miss a large part of pre-season and potentially the beginning of the season. However, he could be the additional firepower that the Canaries need in forward areas.
