Championship side Norwich City have stepped up their pursuit for SM Caen defender Molla Wague by offering him a contract according to Sky Sports.
The Mali international helped his side achieve promotion into Ligue 1 this past season but he has not been offered a contract extension with the club yet.
The players availability has sparked interest from club’s all over Europe but it now seems that Norwich have stepped up the chase for the defender following news that West Brom were in pole position for his signature.
It is believed that a host of clubs from Italy and Holland are interested in the former France U19 captain but following interest from English Premier League sides he told reporters that the Premiership is his preferred destination.
Teams including Leicester City and Crystal Palace have recently been reported to have shown interest in the defender.
He is to decide where his future lies following Mali’s friendly against Croatia this weekend.
Wague told Sky Sports, “I am aware of the offers from England and of course it is attractive for me to play there, but I also received proposals from Europe.
“At the moment however, I have left my agents to do their work and I have been focusing on my duty with the national team.
“After I finish, we will carefully consider my options before deciding the next step in my career.”
