Norwich City are set for something of a summer clear out of their midfield, with Youssouf Mulumbu set to leave on a free transfer and Jonny Howson strongly linked away.

New boss Daniel Farke will join the Canaries with the intention of bolstering his midfield unit in the coming months, as Norwich’s engine and drive has come from the position in recent years, and this is set to continue next year.

The likes of Alex Pritchard, Graham Dorrans and Wes Hoolahan are still at the club, and Farke may feel a more defensive minded player will be the most likely addition to this trio.

Newcastle United’s Vurnon Anita is set to be a free agent when his contract expires this summer, and a swoop for the Dutchman should be on the cards for the German boss.

Anita played 27 times for the Geordie outfit last year, helping the Magpies to an instant return to the Premier League by winning the Championship title.

The dominating midfielder has been at the club since 2012, and has top flight experience from his time in England, as well as six years in the Eredivisie with boyhood club Ajax.

Anita is a strong midfielder with the ability to break up play, and with four Dutch caps to his name, is a man of great experience.

Farke should consider a swoop for the 28-year-old, and if he can convince the player that Norwich are title contenders next season, then a move to East Anglia could appeal to the midfield man.
