According to The Sun, Preston North End are poised to complete the signing of Norwich City goalkeeper Declan Rudd.

Declan Rudd is set to move to Preston after the two clubs agreed on a £1m transfer fee.

Rudd spent the entirety of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic in League One and impressed with the Addicks keen to re-sign him.

The 26-year-old, however, had an option triggered in his contract which meant that he signed a one year deal with Norwich this summer.

With John Ruddy being released, some believed that Rudd would be given first team action next season.

However, the Canaries have now decided to dispense with the academy graduate, ending an eighteen year association with the club.

The former England under-21 international previously spent two loan spells at Preston North End and was reportedly keen on a return to Deepdale.

He is set to enter negotiations over personal terms with Preston and the deal will be finalised once the player and the Lilywhites can come to an agreement over wages.

The imminent exit of the 6'3'' stopper leaves Norwich City with Michael McGovern and Paul Jones as their two permanent goalkeepers on their books, while they recently snapped up Manchester City starlet Angus Gunn on a loan deal for next season.

Preston will expect Rudd to compete with Chris Maxwell for the starting spot between the sticks.
