Norwich City are edging closer to completing a deal to sign Marley Watkins from Barnsley, reports the Eastern Daily Press.
Marley Watkins has been at the centre of a major Championship transfer tussle for some time now after handing in a transfer request during the January window.
He failed to secure a move away in January and returned to the Barnsley first team fold but has since refused to sign a new deal.
The 26-year-old will be available on a free transfer this summer with Norwich City set to beat five other Championship clubs to his signing.
Bristol City, Cardiff City, Wolves, Aston Villa and bitter rivals Ipswich Town were all also interested in the former Inverness Caledonian Thistle attacker.
However, Norwich appear to have stolen a march in the race to snap up the winger, who can also play as a striker, after his impressive tally of 10 goals and 7 assists in the league this season.
