Norwich need a Dijks replacement, and this PL man could do the business at Carrow Road

With aspirations of returning to the Premier League after a two season absence, Norwich City will hope new boss Daniel Farke will be the man to lead the Canaries’ charge up the Championship table next year.

The former Borussia Dortmund II manager came to England with a strong reputation in Germany but remained relatively unknown on these shores, and will hope to emulate the success of fellow Germany David Wagner, who led Huddersfield to the Premier League last season.

One of the first details Farke must address is the summer transfer window, and one issue is the left back berth at Carrow Road.

Impressive full back Mitchell Dijks will not join on a permanent basis following his loan spell from Ajax, and Norwich will need a new first choice left back.

The man Farke should turn to is Bournemouth’s Brad Smith.

The Australia born 23-year-old struggled to dislodge Charlie Daniels from the left back position following a big money move from Liverpool, and a loan deal to allow the young defender to impress boss Eddie Howe could be on the cards.

Smith would impress in the Championship, and strong performances at a club sure to be fighting for promotion will attract the attention of the young boss.

Smith needs consistent first team football if he is to become a Premier League regular, and a year in East Anglia could help the player discover his top flight dream.
