Championship promotion hopefuls Norwich City are moving closer to signing French defender William Remy.

The Legia Warsaw man has emerged as a target for the Canaries and manager Daniel Farke, and according to France Football, the 27-year-old is close to completing a move to Carrow Road.

Predominantly a central defender, Remy can also slot into the middle of the park if needed, and it is reported he is going to sign a three and a half year deal with the club following completion of his move to England.

Remy has been in superb form for the Polish side in recent times, and has previously had successful spells with the likes of Dijon and Montpellier.

His signing will be a big boost for Norwich, who have emerged as surprise contenders for promotion this term under Farke.

Norwich were not expected to make any major moves in the January window after completing most of their business in the summer, but the addition of Remy will be a welcome one due to his versatility and ability.

Norwich remain second in the Championship having slipped up of late, but will be hoping the arrival of Remy and potentially a couple others can see them over the line.

The Verdict

Bit of an unexpected one this but it should prove a good signing for the Canaries.

Remy is a big and strong sort of player who should slot in nicely in the Championship if he gets his chance, and it is the sort of signing we have become accustomed to seeing from Daniel Farke.
